Google Maps' built-in AI features handle itinerary building, real-time adjustments, and place discovery without accounts, subscriptions, or usage limits—though complex multi-day planning still requires manual refinement.
Open Google Maps in your browser or mobile app, search for your destination city, and zoom to an appropriate level for your planned activities.
Click "Saved" > "New list", name it "[Destination] [Date] Trip", and set visibility to "Private" (default). This list will hold all your planned stops.
Search for generic terms like "museums," "parks," or "restaurants" in your destination. Use the "Explore" tab to see AI-curated recommendations based on popularity and ratings.
Add selected places to your custom list, select multiple locations from your list, and click "Directions" to see AI-optimized routing. The system automatically calculates efficient travel order and times.
For major landmarks, look for the "Immersive View" option. This AI-generated 3D view helps you preview the area around attractions, see what it looks like at different times of day, and identify nearby amenities.
Click on any place to see AI-generated summaries of popular times and wait estimates, key features and highlights, and common visitor experiences.
While exploring, use Google Maps' real-time suggestions for alternative routes if areas are crowded, nearby alternatives if a planned stop is closed, and spontaneous additions based on your current location.
