Why this works

Before a trip, ten minutes of conversation a day beats a long weekly lesson. A model with a clear system prompt can act as a patient partner who corrects only the errors that matter.

Step by step

  1. Choose a level and a topicFor example: 'A3 level, ordering food and asking directions.'
  2. Set the role with a system promptUse the prompt below so the model replies at your level and corrects only what matters.
  3. Practise for ten minutesWrite in the target language and try to answer without translating in your head.
  4. Collect new wordsAsk for three new words from the conversation, with an example sentence each.
  5. Review tomorrowStart the next session by asking the model to quiz you on yesterday's words.

Copy-paste prompt

You are a friendly conversation partner for a learner at {level} in {language}. Reply in {language} with one or two short sentences. After each reply, add a 'Correction' line in English only if there is a mistake that changes meaning. Keep a list of three new words at the end of each session.

Check your result

  • Replies are at your level
  • Corrections change meaning, not style
  • Vocabulary is recorded in your own notes

Pitfalls to avoid

  • Models can make grammar mistakes too; check any rule against a textbook or native speaker.
  • Free variants can be slower at peak times; keep sessions short.
